Patalahti is a shallow, overgrown bay located at the north end of Maaninkajärvi. The extensive bay is internationally valuable as a bird area. It belongs to the Natura area and the national bird water protection program.
There is a 5,1 km nature trail around Patalahti, which has three bird towers and a shelter. The nature trail runs along the edge of the area, sometimes in the midst of the forest. The bird towers are named after their location and the directions; the eastern, western, and northern bird towers.
The starting point can be found at Pielavedentie 931. Approximately 9 kilometers from Maaninka on Pielavedentie towards Pielavesi. The intersection can be identified by the sign “Patalahden lintutorni”. The parking area and information board can be found next to the road.
